all people benefit.
More in the Middle is a wealth building initiative designed to retain, attract
and grow a greater African American middle class by closing the wealth gaps
within Maryland.
Did you know that…?
• White households have 10 times higher net worth than black households whereas the vast majority of black middle class households do not have any investment income.
• Home equity represents over 80% of net worth for African Americans leaving
them vulnerable in the foreclosure crisis
Through
the health initiative, Place Matters, we want to change the health outcomes
for children and families in Maryland. Did you know that?
Did you know that…?
• African American and Mexican American adolescents ages 12-19 were
more
likely to be overweight, at 21 percent and 23 percent respectively
• The Baltimore metropolitan area has the second highest AIDS incidence rate in
the nation and African Americans represent 82% of the individuals living with
AIDS.
In changing these trends, we improve the overall wealth and health outcomes
for all citizens.
